Brief Overview

The Key to making Gonzo honest was to be in the action, to be part of the story

The key to making Gonzo honest

was to be in the action,

to be part of the story

In 2014 we kick things off with a series of articles exploring  a rare combination of brute art with a gentle whisper of poetic love. The creative and wild imagining visual style of Hugo. His work provides an obscure glimpse of an epoch which is rooted in experienced based philosophy. A way of looking at the world which may seem nihilistic, incendiary and yet; wildly poetic. Hugo is a friend and a monthly contributor to the Art Journal.

Not to mentioned a few other tidbits and resources covering  other related ideas. Along the lines between design, technology & philosophy of culture critique. Which will hopefully expand your creative agenda for good “Gonzo” journalism. A kind of reporting that is deeply rooted in observational involvement with a story using the essay as a personal memoir of visual ideas. In a way of recanting anecdotes and general observations.

“Thats Crazy”

—said the sheep—

These “Gonzo” journalist; writers and visual artist weren’t simply parrots of information fed to them by external sources. They attempted to bring a deeper meaning in the retelling of these events. To bring education, experience, knowledge, research and insight to bear on what occurred.  In the wider cylindrical hemisphere. They were experts in the world; the on-the-ground and in-the-minute historians. They gave people something deeper to ponder. A philosophical grounding of the events shaping the universe that would allow them to make connections from one event to the other. To see the larger picture that is history… in the very moment it is occurring. I digress a little, only to remind the reader of one important aspect of how things are created here. Allow yourself the distancing between feeling confused, observed or discomposed. It will help you understand the attitude of the times.

On the subject of web  & visual design, 2014 will bring three new projects which have been been on “the beta oven” for some time now. One of which is a comprehensive online portfolio covering skills in freelance front end development. Two additional online magazines: Art On Paper & Social Concept DC will exhibit an array of projects and ideas for creative professionals. And hopefully raising capital for a possible product launch during the second quarter of 2014 are among the things which must get done. Thinking about creating & monetizing web content for a very specific public niche. While researching and developing strategies for creating and generating a kick-starter campaign for Social Concept DC as a tailored network of creative online magazine is a must do this year. Generating revenue options and a sustainable full time business is a clear goal and roadmap moving ahead.

Art on Paper is both a personal venture and idealistic ploy; one has to proceed with caution for mere sake of sheep. Allow me to digest such ideas in a way that is pithy and linear to understand.

“For The Lame Reader Out There”

–said the fail comedian–

Recanting several volumes of works on paper drawings spanning two decades is no easy task. Scanned at high level 300dpi (dots per inch) in TIFF file formats for the sake of taxonomy within a web ecosystem takes time sir… In addition to development and structuring how to best showcase these works online, I had to completely create not just a web site. But my own custom CMS to manage responsive image sliders using jQuery. Using PHP/MsQL for the backend mgmt of a large collection of images expanding several (gigs) in file sizes and other levels of technical complexity. I want art on paper to look and feel from a design perspective like a monumental retrospective. Referencing the aesthetic decor of DaDa magazine publications of the late to early 1920’s

And I can’t wait to finally complete this project during Summer vacations this year while adding it to the magazine rack for Social Concept DC.

And if you are still of the believe Art Journal is simply a file dump for esoteric ideas in terms of what should be aired online. You are missing the point all together. These projects are the biblical cornerstone of how to live in harmony with the environment around us. To serve and share ideas with the wider world in a way that is poetic and miraculous. Using Lean StartUp “blog first before  your create” strategies as a means of generating feedback.
