Upcoming Site Design About Artist Books & Fine Art Works On Paper

SITE PROTOTYPING CONCEPT | SNEAK PEAK
For The Love Of Print
Is an upcoming project from Creative Think Tank DC, based on documenting the process of drawing & the craft behind making artist books for upcoming design conferences in NYC, Baltimore MD & LA. While showcasing a number of contemporary visual artist who spend most of their time working on paper. Including a decade long artist retrospective series focusing on intellectual property, graphic design & fine art drawing.
And from a purely technical point of view, I am still figuring out how much bandwidth will cost for hosting potentially thousands of images on my server. In addition to working on overall aims & financial ROI aspects of the project.
I would love to make the site or app responsive so it adapts to small screen sizes as an overall target point for the site. This project is still withing an alpha phase but I wanted to share its fundamental thesis with all of you now. I am also imagining a series of limited edition artist books designed specifically for galleries, friends & museum curatorial staff respectively.
In realizing this kinds of projects, I am reminded of how important is to focus on the things we want to create instead of just living day to day, without purpose. These are the kinds of things which interest me the most as a web designer.
For The Love Of Print | Design Challenges & Workflow
I usually dont like to share my preferred methodology workflow this early during the site prototyping phase. But my dear friends over at the Mac Power Users kindly asked me to share a basic web design workflow for their audience. And I kindly said yes at the opportunity of showcasing our projects with their community of Mac users and talented creative folks.
Workflow Design Phase | Alpha
- White Board Brainstorming Sessions
- Design Comps | Site Nav Details
- ROI | Calls To Action
- Mark-Up / CSS
- Responsive Design
- CMS Strategy With WP
- Marketing & Social Media
- Iteration & Discovery
There is much that can be said on all eight points but I will digress for another day with another witty article focusing in greater details in weeks to come. But from a top down vantage point, these are the basic steps for working on both personal & clients projects in web design.
By establishing a basic workflow early on, you can ensure optimal success in all your creative freelancing projects. And it most be said, that each designer will vary on these principles and practices as they differ between project and scope of work needed.
