Salvador DC: During my formative years, at “Parsonia” University. My youngest sister used to call me, “Doodles”. Her birthday today is, as baby Yoda would say. Indeed sis, I was constantly drawing on countless artist thinking sketchbooks. With visual design criteria in mind, I became to be.
Back then, circa (1998-2002) she would often see me draw for hours. Without invasion, my mind escaping to sentimental “Ethernia”. Along with parables and contradictions. References to ponder and consider, Sir Bacon. Francis Bacon was indeed one of my 20th Century painterly heroes. And then came Amy Silman painterly inspiration. With her art historical axis cannon mountain top painting.
Amy Sillman: Me & Ugly Mountain

Web Clip notes from: The Curator:
“In her 6-foot-wide “Me & Ugly Mountain” from 2003, a woman in the lower left corner (which seems to be a cartooned self-portrait) pulls a tiny rope that drags a giant sack of orange and pink lines across a vast empty, snowy landscape.
The character has got a ton of psychological baggage, but, ya know, she seems to be getting along.
Contemporary abstraction tends to riff on art history and be rife with alienation. One style dubbed alternately the “new casual” or “provisional painting” often purposely feels unfinished and verging on mistakes.
In this post modern 21st century moment where there’s no embarrassment in wearing influences on your sleeve, Sillman operates at the intersection of mid 20th century Abstract Expressionist artists like Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Joan Mitchell and Richard Diebenkorn and expressionist realists and cartoonists like Francesco Clemente, Jim Lutes, Alice Neel, Gary Baseman, Nicole Eisenman and David Shrigley”
Salvador DC: Me & Ugly Mountain.

About Artist Statement: In my work, I tried to emancipate myself from art historical cannons. The monster figure is trying to subdue 20th Century shadows. With this study for larger painting, to be. I gave myself ample room to learn and grow. Giving way to expressive gestural art making practices. That feel and look, corporeal to the eye. My mountain top is a different version to that of Amy’s perspective. I rather took a symbolist approach. Depicting my mountaintop while emanating art historical baggages. Drawing a large foot pedestal as a foreground element. To erect a mountaintop, building or lumping shapes together. In addition to layering non-descriptive irregular shapes to distort my mountain version. While conforming and reshaping the study in the final painting, to be.
I was inspired by Amy’s attempt to tackle what might seem daunting for any contemporary artist, working in the field: “What are we gonna paint?” to quote Barnett Newman in “Painters Painting” from 1972.
Combining contemporary abstraction with cartoonish figuration. I attempted to blur two distinctively motifs into one unified study. Whereas Amy’s figure ground relationship depicts a landscape. I decided to cut out and incapsulate space by illustrating a higher dimensional abstract background.
Representing my Mount Rushmore of 20th artist. Referential points of view, are always welcome.
1-Pablo Picasso, 2-Sir Francis Bacon, 3-Andy Warhol, 4-Louise Nevelson. Transformative shadow boxing lays bare with grit and sophistication, workflows.
Sir Francis Bacon, as I would love him to be. Was a 20th Century master. Behind what is often labeled within Fine Arts humanity circles as: The poster child for the human condition. Go figure. Lucian, Hockney, Picasso and Giacometti. Bah! Francis was indeed, that dude. Distorting brushwork with impasto slaps on unprimed canvases. Allowing what I often call: A painter’s gamble strategy with loaded brush at hand. To develop impressively powerful images.
Artist Thinking Sketchbook Series:

In your mind, once again.

“Something massive, with roughly 1,000 times the area of Earth, is blocking the light coming from a distant star known as KIC 8462852, and nobody is quite sure what it is.
As astronomer Tabetha Boyajian investigated this perplexing celestial object, a colleague suggested something unusual: Could it be an alien-built megastructure?
Such an extraordinary idea would require extraordinary evidence. In this talk, Boyajian gives us a look at how scientists search for and test hypotheses when faced with the unknown.

According to mental sources: “We think the background radio-wave radiation images. Have been misinterpreted, since its’s original darkroom revelations.
“Furthermore, these images represent all the matter in the Universe that Black Holes swallow. Thus connecting dark matter with dark energy in one complete Standard theory.”
Said, another character who is under house arrest for development purposes.

“At the center of a galaxy more than 55 million light-years away, there’s a supermassive black hole with the mass of several billion suns. And now, for the first time ever, we can see it. Astrophysicist Sheperd Doeleman, head of the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration, speaks with TED’s Chris Anderson about the iconic, first-ever image of a black hole — and the epic, worldwide effort involved in capturing it.”

According to The Curator, the Antagonist Movement was a late 90’s group. Encompassing artist, educators, thinkers, dreamers and believers. From around the Tri-State area and “Bushwick” of course.

At our East Village location located on Avenue A and uncertainty judgmental maps. Was central to all things creative wit with psychic automatism in mind.

Today, time and space separate my sister and I. Alongside, exist paradoxical agent force. A bubble wall echo chamber empire. Arousing armaments with weapons of mass celestial destruction. Chatter sensorial surveillance hides, seeks, peels and aides. Towards normalizing what’s come to be, routine.
This is a three way philosophical dialog motif for speechless Democratic frames of mind. First, a three way conversation with a fictitious “Curator”. Developing interchangeable dialogs about contemporary art. Exhibiting digital creator: Salvador DC works online for Arts Journal Zine.
Second, an online exhibition entitled: “Doodle Works” by –SDC.
Expanding three decades in what can only be described as searching for miraculous, creative lines. Towards solving riddles for other scientific minds, in the field.
What field? See these drawings as below, so above shall come forth.

These drawings are works in progress. Character ET design prototypes. To be included in: “Dyson Sol“. The abstract drawings on view, take on biological cell transformations. Enduring alongside a set of character facial expressions. Aiding with dialog narrative structure. These prototypes depict typical Dyson Sol operators. Communicating with the protagonist, –SDC. Using mental teleporting synaptic UI Neural link technology. Often mislabeling these synaptic connections.

Blurring lines between field optical “Techtronics” with technological orders of magnitude. The space between our senses, they nest. Calling all Dyson Operators, the script shall be born again. In 21st Century fashion. Reader take note, this is purely fictional subject matter.

The Curator: Talk about the process behind art making studio practice, for you.

What kind of advance civilization is capable of building a Dyson Sphere. Followed by, “how am I able to hear you?” further.
–SDC.
Fine arts drawing for me, hitherto has been a process between history and research. Investigations leading my gaze to see line, shape, color, pulp literature references, texture with Mise-En-Scene compostion. A new, these works on paper drawings reveal small scale intimacy moments in time.
With the viewer in mind I try to utilize expressive gestures or mechanisms. Ranging around figural to ground layering motifs. On paper effects mostly created from imagination with art historical reference sourcing, material.

With a kind of lyrical abstraction sensibility of spirit within my own collective experience. The works on exhibit are part in a series dating back to 1998 to present. Thinking about these works in relation to taxonomy and curation. I created several critical benchmarks to showcase how the work should be consumed.
Prints, watercolors, abstract drawings, botanical art, photographs, artist books and digital installation blue prints. Together with elevating humanities of sciences by way of philosophical musings, with wavering prose and cons. My creative process is always in a state of refluxing value proposition. For the sake of building argumentative tectonic shifts, in conciousness-SDC.
The Curator: What is the name of your retrospective art show?
